Paul Hammond's Story
A Qualified, Caring Team
Paul Hammond was frightened after learning he had prostate cancer, but his fears subsided after meeting the highly qualified and caring team at Sutter Solano Cancer Center.
"They were absolutely phenomenal," says Hammond, 71. “They made it very comfortable—I felt like I was at a resort.”
The caregivers explained the treatment to Hammond so he knew exactly what to expect each day. “I had to go 37 days, Monday through Friday, but they gave me the weekends off.”
The cancer was found in a prostate-specific antigen screening (PSA), and Hammond urges men ages 50 and older to undergo regular testing.
Since completing his treatment, Hammond is keeping himself busy doing handyman repairs on the outside of his house. “It keeps my wife out of my hair,” he jokes, “and I don’t have much hair left.”
