Zimmerman Patient Care Fund
Sutter Solano Medical Center
Dr. Richard Zimmerman was a founding physician of the Fairfield Medical Group (FMG) in 1951, which became Solano Regional Medical Group (SRMG)—Solano County’s largest multi-specialty medical group practice. SRMG physicians have served the community for more than 50 years.
Over the last decade of his career, Dr. Zimmerman focused on our community’s most vulnerable patients and was Solano County’s last physician to make house calls on homebound patients. Most of his patients had multiple problems such as strokes or dementia that made it difficult for them to travel to a physician’s office. While many had limited financial resources, Dr. Zimmerman brought care to them in their homes, regardless of their ability to pay.
The Zimmerman Patient Care Fund honors his legacy by supporting physician visits to homebound, frail patients who are unable to leave their homes without significant physical risk. Philanthropic support is needed to sustain the program in Fairfield and Vacaville, and to expand to Benicia, Vallejo and American Canyon.
