Zimmerman Patient Care Fund
Our Mission
Dr. Richard Zimmerman was one of the founding physicians of the Fairfield Medical Group (FMG) in 1951. FMG grew to become today’s Solano Regional Medical Group (SRMG); Solano County’s largest multi-specialty medical group practice. SRMG physicians have served the community for more than 50 years.
Over the last decade of his career, Dr. Zimmerman focused on our community’s most vulnerable patients and was Solano County’s last physician to make house calls on homebound patients. Most of his patients had multiple problems like strokes or dementia that made it difficult for them to get to the doctor’s office. Dr. Zimmerman provided his frail and aging patients with personalized care, attentive to individual patient and family needs. Many of Dr. Zimmerman’s patients did not have the financial resources to pay for their care. That didn’t matter. When his patients had difficulty leaving their homes to receive health care, Dr. Zimmerman brought care to them in their homes, regardless of their ability to pay.
Sutter Medical Foundation’s (SMF) mission is to enhance the health and well-being of people in the communities we serve, through a not-for-profit commitment to compassion and excellence in health care services. SMF is affiliated with the Solano Regional Medical Group, which has carried on Dr. Zimmerman’s legacy of providing patient-centered care to those in need. SMF offers professional, high-quality and compassionate care from care centers in Vacaville, Vallejo, Fairfield, and Rio Vista, is fully accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality. In addition, SRMG has been honored as one of the top performing medical groups in California for the quality of care and service provided to our patients.
