Sutter Solano Medical Center
Sutter Health in Solano County provides educational programs and services such as annual health fairs, breast self-exam trainings, cancer resource center, cancer support groups, educational lectures and screening programs. By bringing together cancer patients and their family members in support groups, people share their experiences and offer each other comfort and help.
Current events include:
- Cancer Support Groups, first and third Wednesdays (except holidays). Sutter Solano Medical Center and the Cancer Support Community work together to serve people with cancer along with their families and friends by offering cancer support groups to the Solano County community, free of charge. Support groups are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month (except holidays) from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sutter Solano Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Dr., Vallejo. - Look Good...Feel Better (call for dates). This is a free program that teaches beauty techniques to women in active cancer treatment to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of treatment. For more information or to register for a session, call (800) 227-2345.
- Cancer Support for Children (call for dates). Sutter Care at Home hosts a free support group for children ages five to 12 to help them cope with a family member's illness. The workshop will provide an opportunity through play, art activities and discussion for children to express their feelings, address their concerns, fears and questions, and explore different ways to cope with a loved one's illness. - Nutrition Classes for Cancer Patients. Nutrition is a very important part of your cancer treatment. By eating the right type of foods during and after your treatments, you’ll feel healthier and stronger. Join Dakota Allstadt, R.D. at Sutter Solano Cancer Center, as she discusses a variety of nutrition topics to help cancer patients. Classes are health at Sutter Solano Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Dr., on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 4 to 5 p.m. For more information or if you would like to attend one of these sessions, please call (707) 551-3400.
